Mayo Concert Orchestra was established in 1995 with the aim of performing live orchestral music in County Mayo. Our repertoire includes classical favourites, themes from musicals, arrangements of traditional Irish tunes, dance classics and original pieces of music. The orchestra rehearse at Music West, a centre for music rehearsal, collaboration and performance based in Castlebar.
Mayo Concert Orchestra has around forty members of all ages who travel from all over Mayo and beyond to perform with the orchestra. Each year we also welcome musicians who are passing through Mayo on short-term contracts or student exchanges. We perform at local events and have also been commissioned for projects including Sean Keane concerts and music for the Fainne Oir stage show.
We are always looking for new musicians to join us, so whether you play regularly or want to get back into music we would welcome your participation or your support at one of our regular events.
