Mary Curran became musical director of the Castlebar Concert Band in 2016. Mary has worked as a full time musician with the RTE Concert Orchestra and is a director of the WhistleBlast Quartet. The latter provide musical education programmes to schools and communities, as well as performing in a professional capacity all over the country. In tandem with the musicians, Mary aims to reinvigorate the band's repertoire, while also providing instruction in technique and practical exercise to enhance existing skills. Her focus is on ‘new ideas and developing all aspects of the band. There will be an emphasis on hard work and good fun’.
